August Happenings - Updated

Here is the class list for August. If anyone is interested in participating in one of these classes or events, please let me know ASAP! Also, if there is something you would like to share or do, let me know so we can make it happen! You can contact me at centerthirdsisters@gmail.com or 521-0114 if you are interested in any of these items or have questions about anything posted below.

Thursday, August 13th, 9:20 a.m.
Sweet Candy Factory Tour
3780 W. 1100 S.
We will be meeting at the church at 8:45 and leaving by 8:55, or at the candy factory at 9:10. Please let me know if you need a ride so someone can pick you up!

Friday, August 14th
This is the Place Heritage Park - Discount admission day on Friday, August 14th for $2 per person (you might have to say that you are with the AYLI fundraiser). This is a great price and a really fun place to visit if you have not been; and if you have, you probably have not seen even a portion of what is there. We had a membership that just expired and my kids loved going there, and my husband REALLY loved going there (he is fascinated by how the pioneers lived and made things!)

Saturday, August 22nd - 8:30 a.m.
Super Hero Capes - see this tutorial for pictures and more details. Cost is $5 per cape, and the money needs to be to me by Sunday, August 16th so I can purchase supplies and get them ready for Saturday :)  If you want to purchase your own supplies, just let me know.

Thursday, August 27th, 7 - 9 p.m. Goostrey House
Bread Making Class - We are going to make whole wheat bread this time and might even use freshly ground wheat. This is a very basic, simple recipe that works great for daily use bread (making sandwiches, eating fresh out of the oven, etc.). The recipe is called "Fool-Proof," so even if you have never made bread before it is worth a try. Also, if you think making bread is hard and takes all day, you need to come watch this. This recipe takes 1 1/2 hours start to finish and requires very little work besides monitoring and putting in the few ingredients.  Nothing is required for this class unless you have a bread pan you could bring, and you will get to take home some sample bread that YOU help make! We will be making bread using the Kitchenaid mixer and also by hand this night.

Book Club - We are working on getting this started with a handful of sisters. If you are interested, or would like to be in charge please let me know.

Temple Group - We don't have an official date for this month yet, but we will let know you when we do. Keep checking back!

  2. I'll put you down for these things and send out an email to those interested soon. FYI, we found that we were able to make 2 capes out of the 3/4 yd. So if you decide to purchase your material, you just need to get 3/4 yd of two different fabrics to make capes for both of your girls!

  3. I may be moving, but if someone wants to do a book club deal for August, I can be part of that. I'd like in on the candy factory tour, capes, and bread making, too. I don't know how many more weeks we'll be around, but I'd like to come to as many of those as I can this month.
